CALL FOR PAPERS

The Information Society is constituted primarily through the exchange of language data. Programs that utilise knowledge about (the Slovene) language are useful tools for authors, publishers, language students, disabled people, etc. The process of Slovenia's integration into the European Union further extends the need for computer assisted translation into and from Slovene, for modern and accessible bilingual dictionaries of the Slovene language, and effective learning methods for translators and language students in general.

Language Technologies (LT) comprise computational tools and methods that assist in authoring, exchange, structuring, searching, storage and translation of language data. The focus of the conference will be on the usage and development of LT for the Slovene language. As LT products are typically language specific, Slovenia needs its own language resources (e.g. corpora and electronic dictionaries) and language models (e.g. for speech, morphology, tagging) in order to successfully apply LT.

The conference Language Technologies for the Slovene Language therefore aims to:

The official languages of the conference are Slovene and English. Unfortunately, parallel translation cannot be provided.
