Such masculine nouns actually fall outside the scope of the FOIDL induction algorithm, which presupposes that the mapping is a function: Slovene nouns ending in -a can be declined either according to the first or according to the second masculine paradigm. In other words, they exhibit free variation in the oblique forms.
