Information dissemination policy

One of the most important goals of MULTEXT-East is to make its standards, software, and data freely available for research in both academia and industry. For this reason the dissemination of project results has special impact for its success.

Overall, the consortium adopts a policy of maximum access to all project resources. A primary goal is to provide the greatest possible opportunity for feedback from the potential community of users for the project's software and data. Therefore the project will strive to provide free access to early versions of software and data for use by the NLP and MT community.

All project results will be publicized during the course of the project, using as media electronic lists (LN, HUMANIST, LINGUIST, CORPORA, EMPIRICIST, NL-KR, etc.), papers and panels at conferences (COLING, EACL, AVIGNON, ACL, ACH/ALLC, NewOED, etc.), workshops (COLING or ACL pre-conference workshops, etc.), journal articles (Computational Linguistics, Computers and the Humanities, Linguistic and Literary Computing, Linguistica Computazionale, etc.). All deliverables (reports, data, software) are marked as ``public'' and will be made available electronically on ftp servers.

Like MULTEXT , MULTEXT-East is strongly committed to contributing to the establishment of standards for software and data for NLP and MT research and applications. All proposed standards (lexical specifications, etc.) will be disseminated as early as possible to the NLP and MT research community via electronic lists and conferences, again in order to provide the greatest opportunity for collaboration and coordination with other efforts and standards-making bodies. Standards proposals will also be distributed to groups such as the TEI and Eagles ; some MULTEXT-East partners are involved in these standardization efforts, which should ensure a maximum amount of coordination.

The MULTEXT-East basic tools and all data will be distributed by ftp and CD-ROM under the control of the Relator project. Ftp access will be free, and the CD-ROM will be sold at production cost. Production will be handled through Relator . Since the intention is to sell the CD-ROMs at production costs, these production costs will be reimbursed later and have not been included in MULTEXT-East budget.
